Title: Basic routing question--Midi-Yoke and Live5 Post by thudlike on Nov 30th, 2005, 9:10pm Hi, I'm new to the Midi-Ox/Yoke world and was hoping to find some advice. I'm trying to connect a Mixman dm2 controller for use with Ableton Live 5.02. I have the dm2midi program installed as well as the Mixman software. I have both Midi-Ox and Midi-Yoke installed. In Midi-Ox, under Options/Midi Devices should I have all 8 Midi-Yoke inputs/outputs highlighted or just 1? In Live, under Preferences, Midi/Sync should I highlight Track, Sync Remote for just one Midi-Yoke input and output? Thanks for any guidance here... |

Title: Re: Basic routing question--Midi-Yoke and Live5 Post by Jamie OConnell on Dec 2nd, 2005, 3:05pm I don't have a dm2 controller or Live, but I am guessing that the dm2midi program allows connecting a MIDI ouput port? If so, you could connect directly to Live without any MIDI-OX involvement: in dm2midi select MIDI Yoke 1 as Output. In Live, select MIDI Yoke 1 as Input. If you want to use MIDI-OX for mapping, routing etc. it's a little more complicated: in dm2midi select MIDI Yoke 1 as Output. In MIDI-OX, select MIDI Yoke 1 as Input and select MIDI Yoke 2 as Output. In Live, select MIDI Yoke 2 as Input. You would almost NEVER want to select all 8 MIDI Yoke ports at once. NEVER select the same numbered ports for both input and output with-in any software. |
