Title: Midi/ Sysex conversion
Post by Lazarus9991 on Nov 4th, 2002, 4:15am
??? Hi to everybody!
Recently I received some patches for a Korg Z1 from Korg Germany. Unfortunately they sent all the data as a 3 midi-files, which contain 3 banks of sysex data. When trying to send the data with midi-ox/ midi-Player only one of the three files can be transmitted (this one has a defined length  of ~1:20 Min the others ~ 0 min!).  Does anybody know how sysex data can be extracted seperately from a midi-file?

Thanks!  Frank Lazar, Germany

You could try using Windows Media Player to play the file into your synth -- I think it uses a different sequencer engine from MIDIBar, which uses MCI.

You can capture the sysex data from MIDIBar if you have MIDI Yoke installed.  Set the output port in MIDIBar to MIDI Yoke 1, set the MIDI-OX input port to MIDI Yoke 1.  Open the MIDI-OX SysEx view and do SysEx | Receive Manual Dump...  Now play the File in MIDIBar and it will be captured in the MIDI-OX SysEx view.
