Hi !

Sorry for posting this again, but it was covered in antother thread and somehow did not get attention...

I try to simply connect a MIDI file player (tried van Basko and MIDI-OX) to a VSTi in Cubase by connecting it through MIDI Yoke and I get tremendous timing problems, like playing with a fully drunken drummer.

The system is a 2.4 GHz Compaq Laptop, 512MB RAM and XP Professional. I tried to reduce the system services as much as possible, but no difference. If I route the MIDI out of the MIDI player directly to eg. Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth everything is fine.

Unfortunately, I don't have another system to check right now...

Any idea ?

What happens when you use Basko -> MIDI Yoke -> MIDI-OX -> GS Wavetable? If that works try Basko -> MIDI Yoke -> Cubase -> GS Wavetable ... By switching components you can find where the problem is.

Hi Jamie !

That's a clever test !!! I have done so and bingo, the component that causes the trouble is the soft synth !!! Obviously, the two programs competing for the CPU lead to the fact that I loose the exact timing.

What irritated me was, that when I load the MIDI-file within Cubase everything was fine with the same soft synth, but in this case Cubase propably is controlling that everything is in time.

So I guess there is no solution to this problem besides a 4 or 5 GHz machine.... Or maybe Hyperthreading.

Thanks anyway !!! I should have known... NO WAY that MIDI-Yoke or MIDI-OX could have caused the problem.
