Title: Mapping files not seen by Mox(and other quirkiness
Post by Zifle on Dec 11th, 2012, 11:58pm
So, I have 5 mapping files in a folder.  I open the routing window and attempt to insert a mapping file, but the one I need is not listed.   I then open the "translation map" and manually load the file, which works temporarily.  I then re-open the routing window which now shows the file, which I insert between the input and output.   I then save the profile.

After restarting midiox, and loading the profile, the map is no longer between the input and output.  Also, I again cannot locate the mapping file in the routing window without first manually opening it in the translation mapper.
Quite a nuisance to have to do this every time opening mox!

I've been running the latest build under Win7 64bit with fabulous results until this hiccup  :)

Try putting the mapping files in the MidiOx directory.

On XP it is normally
C:\Program Files\MidiOx

Or set your link (shortcut) by right clicking the icon and selecting properties.
Set the "Start in" to the directory where your map files are.

The example map files are in "C:\Program Files\MidiOx\Map", so perhaps you should put all your map files in there and set "Start in" to that directory.

All the best

Thanks Royce,
I try not to keep important things on the C: drive, because windows invariably dies taking everything with it...   But I might have to adapt.      I tried creating shortcuts, and placing them in the midiox folder, but midiox still couldn't find them.  The "start in" had the correct location automatically.

cheers

I don't quite understand what you are doing.
Simply right click on your MidiOx icon that should already be on your desktop, select the bottom option 'Properties' and change the "Start in" directory to C:\Program Files\MidiOx\Maps or where ever your MidiOx directory was installed.

If you don't have a MidiOx icon on your desktop, open up the MidiOx directory and drag the MidiOx program icon to the desktop with the Alt key pressed.

The 'Start in' directory you put in the startup becomes the current directory for MidiOx.
When MidiOx starts it looks for any filtering maps in the current directory (the directory you put in 'Start in').
If it can't find the one it needs (the one that was loaded last time) it just makes the map file 'None'.

You should be putting your Map files in the MidiOx/Maps folder.

It works a treat for me.

All the best
Royce

You can tell MIDI-OX where to find the mapping files by using Main Menu -> Options -> Folders
