Title: How to map pitch bend wheel to use as modulation w
Post by forsushilpotdar on Sep 10th, 2022, 7:07am
Hi,  I am using old keyboard with pitch bend wheel. Now for expression, I want to convert it to ModWheel. How to achieve this?

Pitch bend signal is received at CC 3-2-1.

Thanks in advance.

Hi
You use the Data Map... page under the menu Options

First let me ask about what MIDI is coming in when the pitch bend is moved?
Midi Pitch Bend contains a "Pitch Bend" status byte (including the channel) and 2 data bytes
The first data byte is a 'fine' value and the second is a 'coarse' value.

In hexadecimal numbers Pitch Bend (PB) message is
Status byte = Ex = E is the PB and x is a value of 0 to F (1 to 16) for the channel
Data bytes...
00 40 is the central (no bend) setting.  40 is half way from 0 to 7F (0 to 127)
7F 7F is the max bend up setting.
00 00 is the max bend down setting.

Let me know what your keyboard is putting out and I'll walk you though setting it up.

All the best
Royce
