ALESIS SR16 MIDI BACKUP TO PC

Hi. I'm a complete novice with midi but have followed the steps correctly as far as I can tell. I just want to backup my SR16 to my laptop. On pressing 'Play' the SR16 displays 'Sending Midi..' but no bytes are received in the MIDI OX window. MIDI OX confirms that I have selected a MIDI IN and MIDI out device. Can anyone help?

Hi many years ago I started writing an editor for the SR-16 (I hope we are talking about the Alesis drum machine here ). I got side tracked on another project and my friend and great guitarist Ken Stephenson asked if he could take over the project. He did a great job coding about 99% of the editor and you can still get it for free on his web site. http://www.namesoft.biz/sr16editor/index.htm It allows you to save files and upload sysex files back to the SR-16. Hope that helps Royce Craven

Thanks a lot Breath. I've downloaded the Editor and will give it a try. Cheers.
