Novation Sysex "OS" sending problem

 Hello people
Now im very new to all this so please bare with me, Im a quick learner, anyhow.
A guy from Novation siad that if i wanted to upgrade my software in the Supernova 2R and K station R use midi ox.
I have a USB edirol UM1, with a simple midi in /midi out device. I installed Midi ox at and since then i have performed dumps from both machines and saved the files for backup.
Now when sending to either one of them a Sysex file, the monitor shows that its sending but the novations just sit there and still say "awaiting OS update".
I have put all the protect settings off, put them all on Midi channel 1, switched the cables round, it can send from Novations to the PC, but wont go the other way, if you could help this midi dunce in simplistic terms i would be very very grateful. im sure its so simple i would kick myself
