alright well im kind of confused on this, midi doesnt make sense to me at times. I bought a soundblaster audigy2 and it came with a midi, joystick port or whatever.  Two questions for this, do i plug this into the card? and also can i get a converter for this so that i can hook up this guitar modulater thingy, Vamp2, which uses midi, but with a different connecter.  If someone knows what im talking about please help, let me know weather im a dumbass or this makes sense, thanx

The Soundblaster family of cards have a, I believe, 24-pin trapezoidal DIN connector on the card interface.  This provides support for 1 MIDI in, 1 MIDI out and the joystick.  You need to order an interface converter:  it's a three cable device for each of the ports listed above with the DIN interface on the other end.

I'm not sure where to order one.  I bought mine when I owned the original Soundblaster waaaaaaaay back when.

Note that if you are going to do any analog recording as well, you should spend the USD$150 and buy the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card or something similar.  It provides MIDI in/out, stereo analog in and out, as well as S/PIDF for digital recording/playback.  Not only that, but the analog interface is high-fidelity / low-latency.

Soundblaster cards (even the Audigy) are fine for games and video playback, but they suck (plainly put) for recording audio from, say, a mixing board.
