New to midi, need help with MIDI-OX

I'm new to the whole midi thing, but I was directed to midi-ox through some forums I was posting on for advice.  I'm sure these questions have been asked a hundred times, and I've read through a lot of the threads already and have a very limited understanding of how to do things, but the light bulb hasn't come on yet.  Here's what I have and what I'm trying to do.  I have an old keyboard, Yamaha DGX 205 with USB out for midi.  I just bought a yamaha Motif rack es from a friend of mine.  I was told in a midi forum that I'll need to get a program to connect them via computer and was told about MIDI-OX.  I played around with this setup for several hours yesterday, and have come up with nothing so far.  My keyboard is getting its signal into midi-ox, but I can't figure out how to incorporate my rack.  Also will I need to send the signal to the rack, then back to the computer for my monitor?  Or can I just go from keyboard, to computer, to rack, and just use the rack outputs to a monitor?

Anyway, if someone could walk me through setting the inputs and outputs to get this thing working, I'd really appreciate it.  If there are other posts that already outline the process, please direct me.  I am planning to buy a controller keyboard in the future, but don't have the money as yet.  So I'm trying to work this out as a temporary way of getting to know the rack.  Thanks for any help.
