Sonar, Xgedit, An1xedit - i dont get it!

i've been using this for years on my old computer with the odd crash here n there but i have no real understanding of how it all works. I've just upgraded my computer and i suspect im getting a feedback loop because I get the blue screen when i twiddle the knobs in XGedit. Hardware is a sw1000xg with the PLG-an1x card onboard too.
Im using:
Sonar 5
XGedit
An1xedit
How should the Midi ins & outs be set up? Do i need to set up any thing in MIDI-OX or is it just a case of setting up the Yoke driver correctly between the applications?
Please help
