Midi yoke and IMP?

http://www.sreal.com:8000/~div/midi-utilities/

Above is a list of programs, but the main one that I am referring to is imp.

It claims to enable my computer to distinguish between 2 keyboards, and says that midi-yoke is a requirement for most of his software.

I dled imp, but now I don't know what to do... I run the .exe, choose a imp file and it still acts just as if I had 2 normal keyboards connected.... any ideas? I don't even understand where midi-yoke comes in to play.

On Windows, a MIDI loopback utility is necessary to get the most out of these programs. It will provide extra Windows MIDI ports which allow you to wire multiple MIDI programs together instead of speaking directly to your sound card or synthesizer.

Unless you explain what you're trying to do with imp, I can't really offer a better explanation of what MIDI Yoke offers than the site itself.

Sorry about that...

Basically I want to be able to hook up 2 keyboards into one computer, and have one be a midi controller, while the other functions just as a normal qwerty keyboard.

Imp CLAIMS to be able to do this... but I can't figure it out....

Okay.  IMP needs to send MIDI events somewhere, right?  If you want those events to go out a physical MIDI port, that's the MIDI output you'll choose.  If you want the events going to another program, you'll need MIDI Yoke.

In hardware, you'd have:
[MIDI Keyboard: OUT]<--midi cable-->[IN: MIDI Module]

In software, you've got:
[Program A: OUT]<---MIDI Yoke "junction"-->[IN: Program B]

Here, "Program A" is IMP.

I know this is kinda branching out from midi yoke a little bit but...

Right now, the second keyboard, when imp is running, is simply acting as another keyboard... even holding down shift on one affects the other.

Secondly, I see no way to tell IMP to send the info to ANYTHING, or even if IMP is sending or recieving info.

Yep - and I don't know IMP, so I can't really help with it, sorry!
