MIDI track distortion

On a W2K(SP4) PC I am running Yamaha's SW1000XG, DS2416 hardware with XGworks and DspCtrl3 software. I am routing as follows:
MIDI-OX:
IN - SW1000XG MIDI In
OUT - NT1
XGworks:
IN - NT1
OUT - NT2 and NT3
DspCtrl3:
IN - NT2 and NT3
OUT - SW Synth 1 and 2
I experience distortion on one MIDI track yet when I use a different cabling system to MIDI Yoke it does not happen. Unfortunate, the other sytem only has 4 single pipe connections so is limited. Anyone experienced a similar problem and resolved it?

What does "distortion on one MIDI track" mean?

One synth sound on a track sounds distorted. The same sound/track every time I play that MIDI song (a Yamaha demo from their MU100 folder). When I change piping it never happens.

Sorry, I'm still not with you - MIDI isn't sound.  Can you explain?

I'm sure we're both aware that MIDI doesn't make sound!!!The MIDI plays the sounds (voices) from the SW1000XG soundcard - do you understand? - is this clear enough?

You started a thread called "MIDI track distortion" and you're saying you experience "distortion on one MIDI track".  Distortion to me is an audio phenomenon, hence my confusion.

You've still not really explained what the problem is.

Peter
I'm sorry if I haven't explained things clearly enough. Let me try again. I am playing a MIDI song file i.e. no audio (wave) tracks, using Yamaha's XGworks software and am playing the SW1000XG's synth sounds. One track (or synth sound) always sounds distorted when using MIDI-Yoke (NT version), yet when I change to Marblesound pipe system the sound is crystal clear. Unfortunately, the Marblesound piping isn't as flexible as MIDI-Yoke i.e. the latter will provide three connections per pipe e.g. NT-1. I wondered if other users had experienced a similar problem. I hope this is clearer.
Regards.
Baz.

Ah, right...!  Yes (where's the light-bulb smiley..?)

Sounds like some low level driver problem, maybe something to do with interrupts.  I don't know how either driver works but it's likely they're pretty different.  (I could start hazarding further guesses but I'll shut up now that I can see the problem's beyond me!!)

This still doesn't make sense without more context.  I recommend you download MIDI-OX to see what data is actually being sent to your devices under each scenario.
