Not seeing Soundcard's midi input/output

After installing midi yoke on xp I'm not seeing my soundcard's midi ports. I have an echo layla 24 which has a midi in and out. i'm only seeing yoke channels 1 - 8 in all my applications. i've reinstalled the soundcard drivers, didn't help...

1) Were the MIDI ports there before you installed MIDI OX?
2) Do the MIDI ports show up still in the hardware device manager view?
3) What appplications? MIDI OX? Do the apps support > 8 MIDO ports?
